A-League 2022/23 Round 6 Betting Preview and Predictions

Posted on: 2022-11-11 23:26:06

In this A-League betting article, we will take a look at four A-League Round 6 matches scheduled for Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12. And the action begins with a fascinating clash between Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory, who have split their last six meetings.

Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City Betting PickWhen: Saturday, November 12 – 17:00 AEDTWhere: McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, AustraliaWeather: Cloudy, 23°C

Newcastle Jets hold a very solid head-to-head record against Melbourne City, having won three of their previous six meetings with Patrick Kisnorbo’s men. However, despite what those figures might suggest, it’s tough to doubt Melbourne City here.

Melbourne City picked up their fourth W of the season last week when they demolished Perth Glory, securing 13 points on the season with an impressive 4-1-0 record. In contrast, Newcastle Jets are 2-0-2, having lost two straight matches ahead of this bout, most recently against Melbourne Victory (0-4).

Even though the Jets have vastly improved this season and actually look like a competitive side, this is Melbourne’s match to lose. Notably, there’s a chance that City will rest Maclaren, but even without him, they have enough talent to take the W.

Prediction: Melbourne City to winSydney FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers Betting PickWhen: Saturday, November 12 – 19:45 AEDTWhere: Sydney Football Stadium in Sydney, AustraliaWeather: Cloudy, 22°C

An exciting Sydney Derby will see Sydney FC clash with Western Sydney Wanderers in what promises to be another entertaining affair between two squads that seem fairly evenly matched on paper.

Sydney head into this match with a 2-1-2 record and seven points, three behind their rivals, WS Wanderers, who have managed a 3-1-1 record. Notably, both teams lost their Round 5 matches – Sydney against Brisbane Roar (1-3), while WS Wanderers kneeled to Central Coast Mariners (0-3).

As evident, both teams seemed to forget how to defend their goals, granted that has been more of an issue for Sydney, who have conceded 11 goals across the first five rounds. In contrast, WS Wanderers have conceded just one up to last week; however, it’s not like this indicates WS Wanderers’ defensive prowess.

It’s tough to call out a winner, but based on what we know from previous Sydney Derbies and the teams’ recent results, this fixture is bound to be a fiery one.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goalsWellington Phoenix vs Western United Betting PickWhen: Sunday, November 13 – 15:00 NZDTWhere: Sky Stadium in Wellington, New ZealandWeather: Partly Sunny, 19°C

Wellington Phoenix took down Macarthur FC (4-1)  last week, securing their first W of the season following three draws and a loss. On the other side, Western United have yet to find any traction as they head into this bout with a 0-1-4 record and back-to-back losses.

Western United’s main issue remains their poor usage of the ball and disappointing finishing, which explains why the Green & Black have scored just seven goals this season – which is not that much considering how many chances they’ve had.

Some may argue that Western United are a talented side and that they’re bound to break their dry streak. In some ways, we agree, but we don’t see them bouncing back in this clash. No matter how we look at the upcoming affair, the Nix simply look like a better team and even though they’re not highly effective in the attack, it should be enough to break though WU’s poor defence.

Prediction: Wellington Phoenix to win Central Coast Mariners vs Macarthur FC Betting PickWhen: Sunday, November 13 – 15:00 AEDTWhere: Central Coast Stadium in Gosford, AustraliaWeather: Cloudy, 27°C

Central Coast Mariners are on a two-game winning streak, having beaten Western United (4-2) and WS Wanderers (3-0) with two compelling performances. It was an excellent bounce-back from their 0-1-1 start and possibly a good sign for what CCM can produce in the remainder of the season.

On the other side, we have Macarthur FC, who have yet to produce anything meaningful. They’re 1-2-2 but enter this match on a two-game losing streak against Sydney FC (2-3) and Wellington Phoenix (1-4), which is not a good look, and their tough loss last week surely didn’t do the team’s morale any good.

The A-League betting odds for this affair are heavily favouring Central Coast Mariners and for a very good reason. Even though the teams are 1-1-1 in the head-to-head over their last three meetings, it’s tough to look at Central Coast Mariners as anything less than the stronger side.

We could see some resistance from the Bulls, but this is CCM’s match to lose.

Prediction: Central Coast Mariners to win
